+Gl0ry+ is a durational performance work that aims to rewrite the imagery of salvation through the power of unseen, unheard, and unrecorded intimacy in a closed space. The performer welcomes one person at a time, for a limited timeframe (usually 10 minutes, but can be less if needed), with some instructions to be followed: time can’t be exceeded; no verbal communication; objects/personal belongings must stay outside; the experience can be terminated at anytime; what happens in +Gl0ry+ stays in +Gl0ry+ and any possible interaction needs to be consensual; you can be naked if you want.
I am a queer person living with HIV, publicly and vocally, and this element is explicitly stated in the synopsis and instructions, and crucial to +Gl0ry+’s meaning.
With this work, symbolically, the body that was for too long perceived as “in need to be saved” becomes the entity that offers salvation through intimacy and owns a new, empowering narrative.
PLEASE NOTE: The performance space is located a few floors up and does not have an elevator.
Only ONE person per session up to 10min.
