En route to perform at the Adelaide Fringe, Dalin was in transit when conflict broke out in the region, leaving him stranded in Dubai for four long, surreal days.

What followed was a chaotic mix of uncertainty, humour and unexpected viral fame. His social media updates exploded, and Dalin suddenly became South Africa’s favourite “official‑unofficial international news correspondent,” earning both local and international media attention. In classic South African style, he turned a traumatic moment into comedy gold - finding laughter and love in his posts and receiving the same in return from South Africans at home and abroad.

It’s a miracle he even made his connecting flight to the world’s second‑biggest arts festival, eventually landing in Australia just hours before showtime.
