German Anxiety Disorder is a dark comedic monologue revolving around loneliness, shame and obsessive overthinking. In two words: relatable humor. Born from stand-up but mutating into something messier, weirder, and more vulnerable, the show blends physical theatre, comedy, awkward poetry, improvisation, and the occasional painfully sincere song.
Premiered as a work-in-progress at Lund Comedy Festival 2024, German Anxiety Disorder explores what it means to be deeply human—and unfortunately German—in a country where people mostly associate you with Oktoberfest, genocide, and Berlin’s filthy nightclubs.
Expect reflections on love, vibrating phones, and well-planned impulse buys. Also: too much thinking. Way too much thinking.
Come if you have anxiety.
Come if you want to get anxiety.
Or just come to laugh at someone else’s.
About the artist:
Lennart Schuster has lived in Sweden for most of his adult life, and it shows. In 2023, he placed second in the Grand Comedy Slam at Lund Comedy Festival. So yes, he’s technically funny - especially for a German.
