William C. Woxling is writer in residence at Dramalabbet during the summer. He is presenting a performance of the new play "I fjärran hörs ett tivoli". He's been working with two new plays during the residence, and one of them will be performed by Matilda Blomquist and Jimmy Björktorp from Melpomalia Friteater at Stockholm Fringe Festival.
"During my recently completed education in drama at Biskops-Arnö, I worked on three newly written absurd plays that explore doom and people's relationship to each other and the society they live in with seriousness, gallows humour and absurdism. I finished one, and during the residency, I will work on completing my other two plays, one of which will be performed at the end of the residency. I'm very much looking forward to continuing to work on my plays on-site at Dramalabbet!"
Dramalabbet was founded in 1998 with the goal of putting the new drama at the centre. The basis of the group is a newly written drama with a premiere. We put on a production annually based on a new script or text developed in the process. Dramalabbet wants the performing arts to comment on and analyze the present and be an active part of the social debate by promoting different voices, perspectives and contemporary stories through scenic laboratory activities.
Dramalabbet is celebrating its 25-year anniversary. See our website to see our program for that!
