Can one sacrifice himself for the sins of others?

A man steps off the subway, undresses, and stands naked in a fountain: he feels empty, eager, but above all — ready. Within ten minutes, the naked man has been murdered by a dozen complete strangers. The violence is as brutal as it is inexplicable, and in the aftermath, a shocked society tries to make sense of it all.

AGNUS DEI is a monologue as well as an immersive performance piece that operates in physical theatre, dance, and performance art. The work explores resistance in a meaningless age, the value of altruism, and the relationship between martyrdom and conviction. The scenography consists of real trees placed inside an industrial building — the audience will be invited into nature.

The piece is preformed in Swedish.

The Void Club is a newly founded performing arts collective led by director Jennifer Löfgren and scenographer Tilda Aspelin. The Void Club aims to create interdisciplinary and boundary-pushing performance art as well as immersive artistic experiences:

We want to create audiovisually powerful works that explore what it means to be human today.
We strive to make art that is emotionally relatable—art that grabs hold and shakes the audience.
We are drawn to pain, the dirty and grotesque, the feminine and queer, the strange and absurd.

Studio Västberga is an artist-run workspace and venue located in the industrial area of Västberga, Stockholm. We are a collective of nine artists working in film and theatre. The studio serves as a shared space for creation, collaboration, and experimentation. AGNUS DEI is the performance premiere of Studio Västberga.
