22 stops
ARTIST/GROUP: Katerina Drakopoulou
COUNTRY: GREECE
CITY OF ORIGIN: Athens
22 stops is a solo, site-specific, roaming Butoh performance that unfolds as a guided walk through the city. During the journey, the performer stops at 22 selected sites and creates improvised choreographic compositions in response to each location’s textures, atmospheres, materiality, architecture, and everyday rhythms.
Rooted in the principles of Butoh, such as slowness, stillness, and heightened attention, the body functions as a framing device, slowing time and directing the gaze toward what is usually overlooked. While the structure of the walk remains consistent, the movement is improvised and shaped by the specific conditions of each site, making every iteration unique.
The audience may follow the walk fully or partially, choosing their own proximity and rhythm. 22 stops invites spectators to slow down, see the unseen, and rediscover the beauty of the ordinary and the unexpected, offering a quiet space for reflection, reconnection, and a renewed encounter with the city.
